আজ ২০ শে জুন কবি বেগম সুফিয়া কামালের ১০৮ তম জম্মদিন। ১৯১১ সালে তিনি বরিশালে নবাব পরিবারে জম্ম গ্রহন করেছিলেন। তার পিতার নাম আব্দুল বারী, মাতার নাম সৈয়াদা সেবারা খাাাতুন।
সুফিয়া কামাল নানা বাড়তে বড় হেয়েছেন । মূলত তার শৈশব কাটে নানা বড়ীতে। কেননা, তার বাবা অনেক আগেই নিরুদ্দেশ যাত্র দিয়েছিলেন।
কবি সুফিয়া কামাল যেখানে জম্ম গ্রহন করে সেখানে নারী শিক্ষাকে ভালো চোখে দেখতে না । সবার ধারনা ছিলো মেয়েরা কেন পড়াশোন করবে । এই ভুল ধারনাকে তিনি ভেঙ্গে দিয়ে নিজের স্বমহিমায় উদভাসিত হয়েছেন বাংলার নারীর শিক্ষার উন্নায়নের দূত বেগম সুফিয়া কামাল । বেগম রোকেয়ার পাশাপাশি তার হাত ধরেও বাংলার নারী শিক্ষার অগ্রগতি হয়েছে।
কবি সুফিয়া কামাল সাহিত্য অঙ্গনকে সমৃদ্ধি করেছেন তার লেখা গল্প, কাব্যগ্রন্থ, ভ্রমন কাহিনী, শিশুতোষ কাব্যগ্রন্থ, আত্নজীবনী, স্মৃতিকথা,অনুবাদ ( সাঁঝের মায়া- বলশেভনী সুমের্কী
(রুশ ভাষা থেকে অনুবাদ), ইত্যাদি।
তিনি তার সাহিত্য জীবনে ৫০ টির বেশি পুরষ্কার পেয়েছেন। সেই পাকিস্থান আমলে তমঘা ই- ইমতিয়াজি (১৯৬১- প্রত্যাখান করেন ১৯৬৯)থেকে শুরু করে বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা পুরুষ্কার (১৯৯৭) তিনি লাভ করেন।
এই সব কিছু কৃতৃত্ব ছাপীয়ে তিনি মৃত্যূবরন করেন ১৯৯৯ সালের ২০ নভেম্বর ।
এই সব কিছু সুফিয়া কামালের কৃতৃত্ব গুগল ডুডল ধারন করে , শ্রদ্ধা করে , সম্মান করে। তাইতো রাত ১২ টার পর থেকে গুগল ডুডলে দেখা মিলছে আমাদের কবি বেগম সুফিয়া কামাল কে । এটি শুধু দেখা যাচ্ছে বাংলাদেশেই। গুগল ডুডলকে অনেক ধন্যবাদ । স্মৃুতিতে বেঁচে থাক সুফিয়া কামাল।
